Through the years, Electra Link has helped thousands of clients with projects big and small. Below is a sampling of the solutions we’ve been able to provide clients.
From its inception in 1950, the Memorial Student Center Complex (MSC) has been a vital part of Aggie tradition throughout Texas A&M University’s history. Built in honor of Aggies who gave their lives in service to the United States, the MSC hosts more than 300 campus-wide programs every year.
To meet the demands of a growing student population, the center underwent a three-year, 321,000-square-foot renovation that puts it at the leading edge of student union facilities. Electra Link was selected to design and install integrated audio-visual technology throughout the building.
Aiming to be time-, cost-, and energy-efficient, Texas A&M wanted to fully automate the MSC building, allowing its staff to control the audio and visual systems, HVAC, lighting, security, and other subsystems from a touchscreen panel located outside each room.
Also required was the capability of sending out email alerts when problems arose within the system. The desire for this level of building control has existed for decades, but the challenge has been developing a way for the systems and components to communicate.
Electra Link utilized a new method of integrating automated systems with a master system — which translates each system’s protocol and allows them to communicate with one another — and programmed the final product to be user-friendly and easily controlled from an Apple iPad or Web interface. Electra Link worked with the electrician and provided all the structured wiring, making integrating the systems easier.
With Electra Link’s newly developed master system, users can make a room reservation- specifying when doors will unlock, adjusting the HVAC system, lowering the projection screen, turning the projector on, and adjusting the lighting- in advance of the actual date.
